Here's your HANDY GUIDE to GETTING TO AND FROM THE island
We're excited that you'll be joining us for our wedding in Koh Samui! We realise that travelling to a remote island may seem daunting, so we've compiled this detailed guide to help you plan and navigate your journey.
Passport Please!
Your visa to paradise.
The aerial route to this little slice of paradise isn’t as complicated as you‘d think: most nationalities can enter Thailand as a tourist without a visa or, if one is needed, can simply request one online.
As conscientious travellers, you should double-check the visa requirements for your specific passport on the official e-visa portal:

KOH Samui IS JUST A HOP, SKIP AND JUMP AWAY!
Koh Samui is just a short hop away from Thailand's mainland. Regardless of which country you'll be flying in from, you'll need to transit to Koh Samui International Airport (USM) via one of these other international airports:
Bangkok (BKK or DMK)
Phuket (HKT)
Singapore (SIN)
Chiang Mai (CNX)
Hong Kong (HKG)
Krabi (KBV)
Please note: Most flights to Koh Samui are operated by Bangkok Airways.

For the Adventurous Souls: Boat Transfer to Koh Samui

two primary routes
Via Chumphon: This route is popular due to the frequent bus and train departures from Bangkok and the slightly shorter ferry ride to Koh Samui (approximately 1 - 1.5 hours).
Via Surat Thani: While ferry journeys from Surat Thani to Koh Samui take a little longer (around 1.5 - 2 hours), this route may offer a wider variety of bus and train connections depending on your departure city.

The Night Bus Bump!
Night buses: A popular choice for budget travelers. Depart Bangkok (Mochit or Southern Terminal) around 9pm, arrive in Chumphon/Surat Thani the next morning (6:30am). Be sure to pick a bus based on comfort (seats vs. bunks) and amenities (AC, toilets, snacks). You can find operators on travel booking websites.
Transfer from Bus Station: In both Chumphon and Surat Thani, ferry piers are a short distance from the bus stations. Taxis are readily available and affordable for the short trip. Songthaews (shared red pickup trucks) are another option in Surat Thani, but may be less comfortable with luggage.
